2026 Adjudicators

Composer Jan Järvlepp studied composition and cello at the University of Ottawa (B. Music, 1976), McGill U. (M. Music, 1978) and UCSD (Ph. D., 1981). After completing his studies he returned to his native Ottawa joining the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, where stayed for 38 years, and the Nepean Symphony Orchestra. He also taught part-time for the Ottawa school board for 29 years, as well as privately. As a youngster he played electric guitar and bass guitar in rock groups and that experience has marked his compositional style. Over the years he has composed over 100 works. Recordings of his music are available on Navone Records.
